Cherries in June

A poem by Rivkah Lambert Adler

After the chuppah,

life’s rhythm restored,

it was just a bare tree

in our yard

that first winter.

Already Sivan when we

discovered its sweet surprise

Cherries in June –

laugh with juicy, red pleasure.

Like us –

an ordinary tree

but then,

cherries!

Blessing unearned.
